THINKING OF GETTING
TATTOOED?
COMMON QUESTTONS ANSWERED.
DOES IT HURT?
Everyone's idea of pain is different.
Remember, tattoos are only applied to the skin, so,
Often the sensation is more irritating than painful. We suggest that people
be free of
Alcohol/drugs etc. when being worked on, as this increases discomfort. Local
anesthetic is not recommended for the area of application as it needs to be
Administered by a doctor and would cause swelling - distorting your potential
Masterpiece. Topical anaes. Cream (available at chemists) is only effective
for small
Areas and must be applied thickly for approx. 60 minutes prior. Its effectiveness
is also
limited due to the skin needing to be frequently wet during the process.
After receiving your new tattoo any minor swelling will settle in about a day
or two.
During this time you may feel a sensation a little like sunburn.
CAN I CATCH A DISEASE?
NO. Strict health laws and checks are
in place with the Health Dept. of each State. All
P.T.A.A. members have completed certificates in sterilization, infectious disease
control,
skin micro-biology, and skin penetration procedures. Most studio work areas
are visible
- Enabling you to see these procedures.
(REMEMBER- YOUR PROTECTION IS OUR PROTECTION TOO!)
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO HEAL?
Healing time for a new tattoo is approx.
10 - 14 days as long as' after-care' instructions
(and personal hygiene) are adhered to. Personal health and 'lifestyle' may sometimes
affect healing time.
WHAT SORT OF TATT (DESIGN) SHOULD I GET?
Only you KNOW you! You are limited by
your imagination. Most studios have thousands of designs to choose from. OR
you can bring in your own design OR just the ideas of your own design and collaborate
with the tattooist to make it happen. If you are confused, browse through artwork
in a studio or look through a tattoo magazine. You'll know it when you see it!
You should consider weather you want your tattoo to be highly visible, partially
visible, or invisible (according to the clothes you wear). You should consider,
too, your workplace ethics. Choose
your design carefully (it won't wash off!). Also, consider its position on your
body. A bit of planning will ensure your satisfaction with your body art!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
All designs displayed in studios are
priced. Personal designs are Quoted on sight.
Tattoos are priced according to intricacy and time involved.
